Local Shows
Good Morning Angelica - Tuesday
Tuesday, 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
Don Ash and Jim Gallman
During the first hour we play modern folk, pop and some bluegrass. Emerging artists are featured along with well-known musicians. Then starting at 9:00 a.m. Jim reads and comments on information about bygone times in our Allegany County home.
Don came to live in Angelica in 2005. Jim has always called Angelica home.
"I hope listeners enjoy the music I share for its light, upbeat quality. Simply, it should just bring us joy. That describes most of my music. But I pick a few songs that aren't necessarily upbeat. These are the ones I pick because the songs are powerful enough to move me. From time to time I hope you hear something on WRAQ that really affects you. Music can be powerful."

Radio Reading Journey
Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Pam Duttweiler
This delightful show is fun for everybody. But we hope young listeners are particularly interested in the rhymes, poems and stories Pam reads every week. Most of the stories are just plain fun.
Hello! My name is Pam Duttweiler. I raised two children (now grown) here in Angelica with my best friend, my husband Rollie. I work as a sign language interpreter and enjoy taking/teaching martial arts classes in the area.
Radio Reading Journeys began as a response to schools closing because of the COVID-19 outbreak, when there were very few opportunities to listen to children’s literature for families without on-line access. Thankfully our community is blessed with a radio station! Those early days of the pandemic were frightening and isolating. I thought that if I could use the radio waves to read to children, perhaps it could help them and their families during this time.
After the first few episodes I realized that whether the show made any impact at all, I LOVED reading these poems, rhymes and stories!! I started reading for the kids, but have continued reading for myself and for the love of these delightful stories and rollicking rhymes and thoughtful pieces.
Each Radio Reading Journey starts out with nursery rhymes for our youngest listeners. Other poems and fun rhymes follow. Eventually, the journey settles into a story from long ago and ends with a final thought: some word of advice or keen observation made by a soul who learned a lesson about life and chose to leave us a note.
I love reading for this program!! Is there anyone else who might be interested in reading to children? I often end my episode by declaring that I like journeys better if friends can come along. I would very much enjoy sharing the journey of producing this program with other readers. If you are interested, you could put an episode together and send it to the radio station on your own, or you could contact me and we could collaborate. Contact me at pamela.duttweiler@gmail.com. It’s always more fun when friends come along!

Classic Baseball
Tuesday, 9:00 p.m. to 12:00 midnight
Justin Thaine
America's pastime is presented here every Tuesday. With Justin's broadcast we get the original radio announcers' play by play coverage and some thoughts from Justin about those players from way back when. He also finds time to discuss the current Major League Baseball season.
Baseball is a local affair on WRAQ. We've enjoyed live coverage of the New York Collegiate Baseball League with special coverage of our local Genesee Rapids thanks to Justin and Ralph Kerr.
But this is not strictly baseball... Justin is a Buffalo Bills fan. So you know he'll share information and opinions about the Bills whenever that's appropriate.
Join him on Tuesday night.

Kick Back with KB
Wednesday, 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Kathleen Benzaquin (KB)
Greetings!! I go by KB as most people find it hard to say my last name (or think it’s a drug!!). I’m originally from Kenmore, NY, and attended Alfred University for my BFA and MS.Ed degrees. I lived in North Carolina for many years until I returned to Alfred where I feel like I’ve found my forever home!
I enjoy playing an eclectic type of music often picking a theme for the program’s focus. My first shows included music from all the bands and solo acts that played concerts at Alfred University and Alfred Tech (as it was known back then). I try to include local artists as well interviews and maybe an in-studio session with a local band! I’ll often ask my listeners for suggestions for themes, songs or to share what they would like to hear. Music is a two-way street!

Classic Jazz and Blues
Thursday, 9:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Don Ash
The title of the show includes "jazz and blues" but it has been predominately blues for a long time. I play all styles of blues but I usually focus on acoustic blues. The rockin' blues singers are great and the large blues bands also have an exciting sound. So I have some of their music on the show but I like simpler arrangements. And the slower the tempo the better it usually feels to me!

The Hip Crip's Music Emporium
Friday, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Josh Shannon
I grew up in northern New Jersey in a suburb of New York City. I spent my time honing my Lacrosse skills (2 time state chmpion), beginning my love affair with music and beginning my career in the building trades working for a contractor summers and school breaks. Then, I studied socio-cultural anthropology at SUNY Brockport with a minor in Film Theory, graduating in 1996. College is where I began playing guitar and expanding my musical tastes.
After college, a six week long roadtrip of searching for a new place to live found me in Denver, CO. Here I worked as an environmental Consultant. I held state certifications for Air Monitor Specialist and Inspector for asbestos and lead abatement project. I spent a year living on Capitol Hill in downtown Denver then I moved to Aurora on the east side of Denver for another year. I then moved back east to Angelica, NY to get married to my college sweetheart (spoiler alert: things didn't workout...but I got an incredible son, Gibson, out of the deal.)
Once back east, I built custom homes until I was hired at the Belmont career and Tech Center (BOCES) as the Building Trades Instructor in 2000. Fast forward to 2007 when I had a motorcycle accident, rendering me a quadriplegic. Paralyzed from the chest down and having no hand function and limited arm function, I could no longer teach my program anymore. after 3 weeks in ICU, 6 weeks in Rehab hospital, 3 months in a nursing home and a year in total I went back to work but in a different program. I taught a career exploration program for at risk 8th, 9th, and 10th graders with hopes of them transitioning to Career and Tech program for their junior and senior years. I was able to do this for three years until it became too much and I took a disability retirement in 2011. While working here some other teachers and I would get our guitars out at lunch, ultimately forming a band to play BOCES functions, graduation and personal parties.
In 2010 I went through driver training where I tried a number of modified vehicles trying to figure the best combination of driver mods for my needs. What's odd is once I got my modified van I never had to take a road test or anything, they just let this crippled dude turn lose on the streets. I don't have complete control of my body and they let me just have at it. I don't know but it seems kind of dangerous to me but hey, I live fast and take chances...
I was elected to the Genesee Valley Central School District's School Board in 2011. I am currently serving my 11th year. My passion for education is still paramount. Even though I couldn't play guitar anymore my passion for music was retained. When I learned about Angelica Community Radio (ACR) I jumped at the chance to produce and host a radio show. I really enjoyed performing for people with the bands I played with and ACR gave me that opportunity to perform once again. At present, I have nearly 200 shows organized on Spotify under the title "Crip's Picks #???". Through the making of my show I have strived to offer new music as much as I can. I feel as though I have further developed my passion for music.
I started a YouTube channel, 1hipcrip, a couple of years ago. Here I document how I do things as a quadriplegic. I showcase how I cook, pressure wash, plow snow, the remodel of my new home and other miscellaneous topics; please like videos and subscribe if you happen to peruse.
